What experiences qualify me to serve on our City Council?
A Dedicated Public Servant for Wayzata
For the past three years, I have served on the Wayzata Planning Commission, most recently as Vice Chair. In August, I was unanimously appointed by the City Council to serve the remainder of a vacated seat. I am in a unique position to bring immediate value and depth as a Council Member.
40+ Years as a Business, Construction and Development Leader
Ken holds a B.S in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to retiring five years ago, he spent 40+ years in the construction and development business, including the past 30+ years with Mortenson Construction. Ken was instrumental in the launching of Mortenson’s Sports Facilities business and subsequently served as Vice President and General Manager of Mortenson’s Minneapolis office. He retired in 2019 as Sr. Vice President and a member of Mortenson’s Senior Leadership Team.
Ken also served as an executive board member of both the Minneapolis Downtown Council and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. For the past 3+ years he has been a member of the Wayzata Planning Commission.
Personal Passion and Family Ties to the Wayzata Community
In 8 years as Wayzata residents, we have fully embraced all that Wayzata has to offer, including its walkability and the quiet, charming nature of the city. I am passionate about protecting the unique small-town character that makes Wayzata so special.
We moved here in 2016 and spend a great deal of time enjoying all that Wayzata has to offer with our four grown sons and six grandchildren. Two of our sons and five of our grandchildren live nearby and are actively engaged in the Wayzata community.
